Free Winter Cricket Open Day in Sutton
Our Open Day is a free taster session for children who have never trained with us before. It is indoors, and there is nothing to pay and nothing to join. Come along, try it, and decide afterwards.
Our next Open Day is Tuesday 12 January 2027, the first night of Block B, at Harris Academy Sutton, SM2 5QP — entrance via Chiltern Road. Please register in advance so we can plan the groups.

The January Open Day
Block B runs on Tuesday evenings from 12 January to 16 March 2027, and it opens with a free Open Day. The Open Day is the first night of the block, so a child who enjoys it simply carries on the following Tuesday at Overton Grange School.
Three Taster Slots on the Night
6.00pm to 6.50pm — school Years 2 to 4
7.00pm to 7.50pm — school Years 5 and 6
8.00pm to 8.50pm — school Years 7 to 11 (some sessions use a hard ball)
Everyone is out by 9pm. Boys and girls together in every slot. Pick the slot for your child's school year.

Come in via Chiltern Road. The school sits on a large campus, so use the Chiltern Road entrance rather than following a postcode to the far side of the site. There is parking.
If your child carries on into the block, sessions 2 to 10 are at Overton Grange School, 36 Stanley Road, Sutton SM2 6TQ — a short drive away. Week one of every block is at Harris.
Who It Is For
Children new to Cheam Cricket Club, in school Years 2 to 11.
There is no minimum standard. Some children arrive having played for years; others have never held a bat. Both are welcome, and both will be looked after.
Girls and boys train together, and girls play in every age group at this club.
Sessions are led by ECB-qualified coaches working in small groups.
What to Bring
All slots: trainers and comfortable sportswear. We provide bats and balls on the night. Years 7 to 11: some sessions use a hard ball, and without protective equipment, taking part may be limited in some activities.
Bring a drink. Nothing else is needed, and no whites.
Book Your Free Place
Please register in advance so we can plan the groups — please do not just turn up.
The form takes a couple of minutes and please fill in one form per child (for a brother or sister, just submit it again). It asks for a date of birth so we put each child in the right group, and for any medical conditions, allergies or additional needs our coaches should know about.

What Happens After the Open Day
The Open Day is session 1 of Block B. There is no obligation to carry on, and nobody will chase you.
The Open Day is free for children new to the club. Block B costs £140 for club members and £170 for non-members.
Want to start sooner? Block A is running now: a single session is £20 or the 3-session package is £54 (members book through Pitchero).
Sessions run through half term. Members book through Pitchero, where the cost can be spread over instalments. New families book through this website.

Open Day Questions
Is it really free? Yes. Nothing to pay on the night and nothing to join.
Can we start before January? Yes. Block A is running now, with sessions every Tuesday until 8 December. Book a single session or the 3-session package.
Is it one free taster session per child? Yes, the free taster session is for children new to the club, once. If your child has already had a free taster session this winter, book a session instead; Block B prices are the same as Block A.
Does my child have to have played before? No. Complete beginners are very welcome.
Is it indoors? Yes — full-size indoor cricket nets, so it goes ahead whatever the weather.
Can girls come? Yes, to every slot, training alongside boys in the same groups.
Do I have to book? Yes, please. We need to know numbers to plan the groups.
Do we have to sign up for anything afterwards? No.
Cheam Cricket Club has played at Peaches Close, Sutton since 1864 and competes in the Surrey Championship. Families travel to us from Sutton, Cheam, Belmont, North Cheam, Worcester Park, Banstead, Ewell, Carshalton and Mitcham.
